Valek & Co. Communications Enters Fourth Year, September 2006

As Valek and Company, Inc., completes its third and most successful year, President Ray Valek looks with pride toward both the past and future.

“What we’ve done in less than three years is amazing,” he said. “But the potential for the future is even greater because of the team we’ve assembled.”

The Valek & Co. team consists entirely of senior-level professionals who provide a full range of marketing and communication services including branding, communication strategy, marketing communication and advertising, public relations, writing, research and more. Valek & Co.'s revamped Web site enables better search engine results and blogging.

While managing his team on integrated communications projects and campaigns, Ray continues to be a working writer, spending a healthy percentage of his time crafting words. “Writing about my clients and their work – whether it’s a speech, news release or strategy document – keeps me fully engaged in the details of what they do,” Valek said. “I won’t ever delegate that responsibility – it’s too important.”

Valek & Co.’s experience and expertise is centered primarily in health and medicine, science, technology, and higher education. Valek & Co. clients to date have included the American Osteopathic Association, College of American Pathologists, Dade Behring, Defibtech, Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Hudson Highland Group, Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, The Joint Commission (JCAHO), Joint Commission Resources, LifeSavers Inc., MDI Access, Midwest Business Group on Health, Promet Energy, Purple Monkey Studios, St. James Hospital and Health Centers, State of Illinois Cervical Cancer Elimination Task Force, State of Illinois Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP), University of Pennsylvania Health System, Vista Health, and Weiss Memorial Hospital.

Prior to starting his company, Valek led significant work for the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) and the University of Chicago Medical Center. The IBCCP work resulted in a 12 percent increase in enrollment and a $1 million award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for additional clinical services to serve the increased enrollment. The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) recognized the work of Ray’s team at the University of Chicago Medical Center with six Gold Quill Awards.
